"Sienna is the one bullying Celeste! She framed Celeste in front of all those people, and now she's trying to play the victim. Are we really just going to let her get away with this?"
Eleanor glared at Jarred. "I told you to bring her here to apologize. Instead, you show up empty-handed and look like you're the one who got a dressing down. You're out of your mind."
She stood, grabbing her cane. "I'll go get her myself. I want to see if she dares to defy me, too."
"I'll go with you, Mom," Helena said, rising to her feet. "If she thinks she can walk all over the Sterlings, she's got another thing coming!"
"Stop."
Jarred's voice was ice. His gaze swept over everyone in the hospital room, a predatory, dark warning brewing in his eyes.
"If anyone dares to bother Sienna today," he continued, his tone leaving no room for argument, "don't blame me for what happens next."
Helena froze, intimidated by the sheer coldness radiating from him. For a moment, she didn't dare make a sound.
Eleanor's hands trembled with fury. "You... you're talking to us like this over an outsider? Celeste is your family!"
"Sienna is my wife," Jarred fired back, his presence imposing. "She is not an outsider."
"Not for long!" Helena retorted immediately. "Your contract with Sienna expires at the end of the month!"
Jarred's expression darkened instantly, the air around him dropping by ten degrees.
Realizing she had crossed a line, Helena faltered and muttered, "I—I mean, it's the truth. We aren't wrong. You two don't even love each other, so sooner or later..."
"I will not repeat what I just said."
Jarred cut her off before she could finish.
His piercing, authoritative glare made Helena's heart skip a beat.
His message was crystal clear: no one was to disturb Sienna, or they would face the consequences.
He was a man of his word. The ruthless aura he projected in that moment silenced the entire room, leaving everyone terrified of pushing him any further.
Eleanor watched her grandson's retreating back, a sudden knot forming in her stomach.
