Yelias immediately straightened his posture. "I later discovered that by using my grandfather’s identity to get close to you, I could get a more objective look at how you felt about me."

"Besides, you’re surrounded by so many exceptional men. I didn’t have much of a competitive edge, so I used my grandfather’s identity to try and persuade you to be with me."

Bai Su let out a laugh of pure exasperation. Just thinking about how she’d been played for a fool still made her seethe with anger.

My original plan was that if you never found out, I’d just keep it a secret. Then, when the time was right, I’d make up a story about Grandpa’s death and have him exit our lives."

Bai Su raised an eyebrow. "Why?"

Yelias said, "I was scared... I was afraid that if I confessed and you found out I’d lied, you would just turn on me completely."
