Beast World: From Villainess to Cub-Raising Chef novel Chapter 287

Chapter 287: Chapter 284: Sneak Attack Kiss

Wen Xiaobao had no choice but to nod obediently and leave the hospital room.

A moment later, Wen Lan returned. Not seeing Wen Xiaobao, he was a little puzzled. "Where’s Little Treasure?"

Bai Su didn’t even blink. "She went home to do her homework."

Wen Lan didn’t think much of it.

「Meanwhile.」

Wen Xiaobao guiltily went to the restaurant.

The restaurant wasn’t really open for business at the moment; it was only making charity meals for everyone to eat.

Seeing Wen Xiaobao arrive, everyone greeted her warmly.

"Little Treasure’s here?"

"What brings you here today, Little Treasure? Aren’t you at the hospital with your mom?"

"Huh? Little Treasure, why are you here at this hour?"

Wen Xiaobao saw Yan Qingya walking toward her, and her little face immediately tensed up. "Aunt Ya Ya... I-I came to the kitchen to find something to eat."

Yan Qingya smiled. "What do you want to eat? I’ll get it for you."

Wen Xiaobao was a bit embarrassed. "Some barbecue..."

Yan Qingya paused for a moment, then laughed. "You’ve got a sharp little nose. The chefs just finished making the first batch of barbecue skewers."

She got two skewers for Wen Xiaobao. "Alright, sweetie, is this enough?"

Wen Xiaobao shyly shook her head. "Not quite..."

Yan Qingya asked, "How many do you want? Auntie will get you some more."

Wen Xiaobao said, "I need 100 skewers."

This time, Yan Qingya was truly stunned, but then she couldn’t help but burst out laughing. "Who would’ve thought? You have such a small tummy, but an appetite as big as your mom’s. Wait just a moment, I’ll go get a plate and bring them out for you."

Wen Xiaobao quickly grabbed the corner of her clothes again. "Auntie, can you pack them to go for me? I want to share them with my friends."

Yan Qingya didn’t think much of it and nodded with a smile. "Sure, I’ll go pack them up for you right now."

As Wen Xiaobao sat waiting, she suddenly saw a figure flash by outside.

Her eyes lit up. "Wow! It’s a big kitty!"

She had never seen a Cat Beastman in the city before.

’What a handsome big brother!’

Yan Qingya quickly finished packing the barbecue skewers and handed the container to Wen Xiaobao. "Here you go. Go on and play."

Wen Xiaobao took the skewers. "Thank you, Auntie."

She left carrying the skewers. On the way to the hospital, she kept feeling like someone was following her.

Wen Xiaobao suddenly spun around and saw a small cat tail dangling next to a trash can at the corner.

Her eyes lit up, and she entered the small alley.

Sure enough, it wasn’t long before the big kitty followed her in.

Wen Xiaobao turned her head. The big kitty didn’t hide, just looked at her with a somewhat blank and curious expression.

Wen Xiaobao asked curiously, "Who are you? How come I’ve never seen you in the city before?"

The boy copied her, tilting his head. "Who are you? How come I’ve never seen you in the city before?"

Wen Xiaobao asked, "Why are you copying what I say?"

The boy replied, "Why are you copying what I say?"

Wen Xiaobao blinked, a little bewildered, and stopped talking.

Seeing that she wasn’t speaking, the boy tentatively took a few steps closer, and then a few more.

They stood a step apart.

The little one wasn’t scared at all, tilting her head up to look at him curiously.

She didn’t sense any danger from him.

The boy had a pair of cat ears, and his golden feline pupils were as beautiful as embedded jewels.

He tentatively squatted down slowly, moved close to the tip of Wen Xiaobao’s nose, and sniffed.

Wen Xiaobao didn’t move.

The boy then moved to a new position, sniffing her ears, neck, hands, and chest. The whole time, his golden cat eyes were fixed firmly on Wen Xiaobao’s, his gaze unwavering.

Wen Xiaobao looked at him curiously. "What are you sniffing?"

The boy stared at her. "What are you sniffing?"

Wen Xiaobao scratched her head. ’He’s just like a newborn kitten—he doesn’t understand anything and is curious about everything.’

Wen Lan raised an eyebrow. "Didn’t you go home to do your homework?"

He handed the cup of water to Bai Su. "Here, drink. It’s warm."

Bai Su nodded without a word, guiltily taking the cup.

Suddenly, Wen Lan caught a familiar scent of a late-night snack.

He paused slightly. His deep gaze flickered between Bai Su and Wen Xiaobao for a moment, and then his lips curled into a smile.

"Little Treasure, you can go home. I can watch things here."

Wen Xiaobao was immensely relieved. "Okay, Dad!"

’Doing something bad behind Dad’s back is too scary! If I stay any longer, I think I’ll suffocate!’

Only Bai Su and Wen Lan were left in the room.

Wen Lan casually pulled over a chair and sat down, crossing his arms. "Hand it over."

Bai Su’s expression stiffened. With a piece of meat still in her mouth, it was hard to speak, so she could only play dead.

Wen Lan chuckled in exasperation. "Bai Su, do you take me for a three-year-old like Little Treasure? The whole room reeks of barbecue."

Hearing this, Bai Su’s face fell. Chewing the meat in her mouth, she said, "Don’t be so strict. The wound in my stomach has already healed. I can eat normal food."

Wen Lan’s mouth twitched. "Right. Today it’s barbecue skewers. Yesterday, I confiscated two packs of pickled vegetables, and the day before, a box of cream-filled mochi. Bai Su..." His voice was heavy with warning.

Bai Su made a pained expression. "But I’m fine, aren’t I?"

Wen Lan asked, "Are you going to hand it over, or do I have to find it myself?"

Bai Su played dead.

Wen Lan’s tail curled up, and dangling from its tip was the box of barbecue skewers.

Bai Su: "..."

Wen Lan placed the skewers in front of her. "Didn’t Yelias specifically say to avoid this? Food this heavy... are you trying to kill yourself?"

Bai Su reached out to snatch them.

Wen Lan moved the skewers behind his back.

Bai Su lunged for nothing and fell into his arms.

While Wen Lan was still stunned, Bai Su suddenly grabbed his collar, pulled him down, and kissed him while he was off guard.
