Chapter 212: Chapter 210: Force-Kissed

Bai Su let out a soft sigh and tugged on his sleeve. "Li Chenlin..."

"Hmph. If you want to talk, then talk. Why get all handsy?" He pulled his hand back and stuffed both hands into his sweatshirt sleeves.

Bai Su craned her neck to look at him.

Li Chenlin must have just showered. His damp, flat hair gave him a boyish air. He was wearing soft, loose, light-colored loungewear, and his sweatshirt had a cartoon dog driving a bumper car printed on the chest.

It was the puppy protagonist from the animated movie they had gone to see.

Bai Su had mentioned how much she liked that brave and clever little dog, and he had actually gone and bought a sweatshirt with it.

The dog’s puffy-cheeked, angry expression was a spitting image of Li Chenlin’s current sulking face.

Bai Su couldn’t help it; she let out a snort of laughter and reached out to smooth down a tuft of hair sticking up on his head. "Alright, don’t be angry anymore, okay?"

This time, Li Chenlin didn’t pull away. He just lowered his eyes and snorted softly, his expression still sour. "You sided with him instead of me in front of all those people. Of course I’m angry!"

Bai Su found it a little funny. "I’m sorry... He’s a guest, you know? You’re one of my own. That’s the only reason I did that."

Li Chenlin got even angrier. "What kind of guest is he? He’s just a guy with ulterior motives!"

Bai Su patiently pressed down the rebellious lock of his hair, but when she let go, it popped right back up.

She tirelessly pressed it down again, and again it popped up.

She felt a little helpless. Her gaze shifted down to his pouting face. "I’m sorry. I was wrong tonight. I shouldn’t have disrespected you in front of so many people."

Li Chenlin’s eyes twitched slightly, and he glanced at her.

Seeing that she had gone quiet, his expression, which had just started to improve, soured again. "And?"

Bai Su paused. "And what?"

Li Chenlin grew even more furious. "I have to work so hard just to hold your hand or get a hug from you, but all he has to do is play a few games with you? He was deliberately taking advantage of you! How could you not see it?"

Hearing this, Bai Su was genuinely stunned.

"Was he?" she asked, a little hesitant.

Li Chenlin: "Of course he was!"

Bai Su rubbed her nose. "Actually... I just think of him as one of the girls. You know he used to be a female, right? You really don’t need to worry about it so much."

Li Chenlin gritted his teeth. "I! MIND! A! LOT!"

"Placate me!"

"Or else I’m going to stay mad for a very long time!"

After saying his piece, he turned his handsome, still-sour face away and gave Bai Su his back again. The tuft of hair on top of his head quivered.

Bai Su sighed faintly, stood up, and turned toward the door.

Li Chenlin turned to look at her in disbelief. "You’re not going to placate me?!"

"You’ve only said a few words to me!"

"How can you be so impatient?"

"If you just coax me a little more, I’ll be fine..."

Bai Su snorted with laughter again, a hint of amusement in her eyes. "I’m just going to the sofa to get you a blanket. Your body temperature is a little low."

Li Chenlin was from the Southern Country and still wasn’t quite used to the northern weather.

Although it had warmed up recently, the nights were still very cool.

As a snake, the cool room temperature made Li Chenlin listless and uncomfortable.

When he saw the blanket in Bai Su’s hands, the tips of his ears turned red. He turned his back on her again, facing the floor-to-ceiling window.

Bai Su walked over and draped the blanket over his shoulders. "You..."

Before she could finish, her wrist was suddenly seized and yanked hard.

The world spun, and she fell uncontrollably into a warm, dry, woody-scented embrace—one that was firm, strong, and exceptionally reassuring.

When Bai Su came to her senses, he was hugging her from behind.

He was sitting cross-legged, and she was settled in front of him, held snugly in his embrace like a perfect fit.

She cleared her throat uncomfortably. "You... you should relax a little."

’She didn’t know if it was Li Chenlin’s ankle or his calf touching her there. She just felt extremely unsettled.’

Bai Su, feeling flustered, pretended to casually glance down, but the skirt blocked her view. She couldn’t see anything.

’Obviously, Li Chenlin hadn’t realized any of this. Otherwise, given his personality, he would have already pushed his luck and pounced on her.’

Bai Su was mortified. "Li Chenlin... did you hear what I said?"

Buried in her neck, Li Chenlin let out a low, hoarse hum, a perfunctory reply.

Bai Su started to get anxious and struggled more. "Li Chen... mmph."

’I can’t struggle. It’ll just... rub.’

Li Chenlin’s eyes suddenly flew open, his Adam’s apple bobbing sensually. "Susu... I smell your scent getting stronger."

Bai Su’s face flushed crimson. "You’re smelling things!"

Li Chenlin’s lips curled as he feigned ignorance. "Oh, alright. Maybe I’m mistaken then..."

"You came to cheer me up, but you won’t even let me hug you? That stinking fish got to hug you so easily."

"Or is it... that deep down, you can’t overcome your fear of me? That you hate snakes."

At this, his tone became even more pitiful.

Hearing this, Bai Su forgot everything else and quickly turned to look at him. "How could that be? I don’t hate you, not at all!"

Li Chenlin barely managed to suppress the smile tugging at his lips. He lowered his eyelids, masking the excitement in his eyes with a wronged expression. "...You’re lying."

Afraid he would misunderstand her again, Bai Su acted without thinking. She raised her hands, cupped his face, and forced him to meet her gaze. "Li Chenlin, I’m not lying to you."

His face was slightly squished by her hands, his handsome features instantly taking on a cute quality.

Looking at him like that, Bai Su was overcome by an impulse from who-knows-where. She leaned in and captured his lips with her own.

Li Chenlin: "!!"
