Chapter 275 The Return
Caught off guard by the sudden interrogation, Stella panicked.
Guilt flashed across her eyes before she quickly hid her face behind her hands again.
“I heard the pterosaur screeching. I just came to look, and then… this happened.”
Seeing Stella crying so pitifully, Aaron stepped in immediately.
Wrapping a protective arm around her, he glared at Carson. “You ran off and didn’t protect/her yourself. How dare you blame her? You think she started the fire? Everyone saw it was an Inferno Pterosaur. What could anyone do? That’s just the nature of survival shows.”
Aaron’s defense shifted the crowd’s sentiment.
In their eyes, true, Stella had a history of bad behavior, but she couldn’t possibly be responsible for a monster attack.
She had arrived early to help and seemed genuinely devastated when yelling at the staff.
Carson, however, couldn’t shake the feeling that something was wrong.
Stella wiped her tears and approached him.
She took his hand, her voice quavering. “I know we’ve had misunderstandings and… and you don’t care for me like you used to. But this hurts me, too. If I could trade places with her, I would.”
Suddenly, a crisp, clear female voice cut through the darkness from behind.
“Oh, really? I had no idea your feelings for me ran so deep.”
Stella froze.
Instantly, hope flooded Carson’s eyes.
He shook off Stella’s hand and sprinted toward the figure emerging from the shadows.
Without a moment’s hesitation, he pulled Layla into his arms, emotion trembling in his voice.
“Thank goodness you’re alive.”
Layla was taken aback by his intensity.
Feeling the eyes of the others boring into her back, she coughed lightly and poked him in the chest. “Um, can you let go? You’re suffocating me.”
Carson snapped back to reality, an apologetic look on his face.
As he released her, he repeated, “I’m just glad you’re safe.”
Layla smiled and nodded, offering him a reassuring glance.

Then she stepped around him, walking straight up to Stella. “What’s wrong? Disappointed to see I’m not dead?”
Stella realized her plan had failed.
[Stella is still acting. It makes me sick. Good thing Layla and the others were prepared.]
[Yeah, Stella didn’t expect them to leave the tree early and watch from a distance.]
[We saw everything the moment Stella walked up to the tree and sprinkled that powder.]
[That powder must be what attracted the Inferno Pterosaur.]
[So malicious. She needs to be kicked off the show and locked up.]
Stella stared at the barrage of messages, her face turning ashen.
Behind her, Aaron shivered.
Seeing the situation crumble, he tried to slip away quietly, but as he turned, he collided with Liam.
Without hesitation, he grabbed Aaron by the throat and slammed him back.
Immediately, George frisked him, pulling out the small vial of powder from his pocket.
He held it up for everyone to see.
Layla looked at Shane and nodded.
Shane stepped forward, took the vial, uncorked it, and gave it a cautious sniff. With perfect calm, he revealed the truth.
“This is a synthetic female pheromone for the Inferno Pterosaur.”
