Awakened Housewife Ignore Betrayer's Begs (Scarlett) novel Chapter 801

Damian pulled on a soft smile. "How about I tell you all about it little by little down the line?"

Scarlett shifted her gaze away from him and gave a quiet hum of agreement.

Damian suddenly let out a warm laugh.

Frowning, Scarlett turned back toward him. "What's so funny?"

Instead of answering right away, Damian locked his eyes onto hers. "So, you said yes?"

Scarlett blinked, confused. "To what?"

He dipped his head to hold her stare, voice low and tender. "That we've got a future ahead of us."

A warm blush instantly flooded Scarlett's cheeks.

Spotting the pasta boiling fiercely in the pot, she hurried to alert him. "Damian, the pasta will turn mushy!"

Damian spun around immediately to fish the cooked pasta out of the boiling water.

They carried the pasta into the dining room and found the living area empty, as if everyone else had intentionally left the whole downstairs just for them.

Scarlett had cooked the pasta light and plain, and Damian chose to eat them dry without broth. When the pasta started sticking together in the bowl, Scarlett stood and headed to the kitchen to fetch a small bowl of hot broth for him.

Setting the broth down on the table, Damian looked up and spoke softly, "Will you keep pouring me broth for the rest of my life?"

Scarlett fell silent and said nothing in reply.

Afraid he'd overstepped and messed up, Damian rushed to clarify, "That's not what I meant at all. I don't want you stuck waiting on me like a housekeeper. What I'm trying to say is I want—"

Before he could finish his sentence, Scarlett cut in gently, "I'll give your words serious thought."

Eyes lighting up with delight, Damian pressed eagerly. "Really?"

Scarlett met his gaze and nodded. "I mean it."

Still half skeptical, he tested her again. "You know exactly what I'm asking for?"

She let out a faint chuckle. "I do."

Damian's heart felt light and giddy, blooming with quiet joy inside his chest. He ducked his head to keep eating, every mouthful tasting sweet. A grin kept tugging at his lips as he ate.

Seeing his silly smile, Scarlett chided him lightly. "Quit grinning and eat properly."

His grin only grew wider. "Yes, ma'am."

With that, he dug into his food heartily.

Once finished, Damian gathered up the dishes, washed them clean in the kitchen, and walked back out to join her.

Once she vanished inside, Damian could no longer fight his curiosity and tore open the bag parked by the gate.

Inside lay a soft knit scarf.

Though it hadn't been hand-knit by her own hands, Damian loved the gift deeply. He wrapped it around his neck and snapped a couple of selfies with his phone.

After admiring the photos for a moment, he opened WhatsApp and sent her a message, "Love the scarf, thank you so much."

Scarlett kept her reply short and sweet, "Drive safely on your way home."

Damian picked one of his selfies and sent it over to her.

When the photo popped up on her screen, Scarlett tapped to enlarge it, unable to look away.

Damian had strikingly handsome features, and his lazy, playful smirk never failed to flutter her heart.

She smiled to herself and saved the picture to her phone without typing another reply, brimming with quiet happiness.

Her heart continued pounding long after she'd returned inside the house.

Out by the driveway, noticing no further incoming messages, Damian neatly folded the scarf and tucked it back into its bag.

For the whole drive home, his gaze kept drifting over to the bag resting on the passenger seat beside him.
