I start piling the clothes to the floor, carefully searching every corner. I checked it before she moved in, and so I know exactly what it should look like. Trump my head on the middle shelf of her bag collection, and it falls over, the sound they make alarming me.

Aeliana doesn’t move, but Maddox gently pulls her back. I feel the section of the wall that is amiss, slowly feeling for something amiss, and I find it. There’s a rough feel on the left, and when I tug on it, it fucking opens.

Someone was indeed in this room, and they’ve been using this passage to get into the house, a passage I don’t remember having. I made sure she wasn’t in any of the rooms connected to our underground tunnels.

The wall detaches, making absolutely no sound as it reveals the next room. A vacant room, and I see a figure dressed in all black at the far end of the room. “Motherfucker,” I lowly growl, trying to squeeze my way through the hole.

Whoever it is notices me and dashes out the door, he is gone by the time I fully enter the room. They go out the door, the door that leads to the hallway. I make a run for it myself, but there’s no one in the hallway, nothing in the hallway, nothing but a bunch of keys with a very familiar key holder. Pink, with two girl doll charms attached.

Rage floods my vision, and I turn on my heels, making my way to Audrey’s room.

I’ve seen these keys a bunch of times. I laughed when Rowan made fun of the doll charms, and I’ll be dammed if I don’t gouge her eyes out for this shit.

“Kingston?” Rowan frowns when I pass him and Caleb in the hallway. I don’t have time to answer. I head straight for Audrey’s door, pushing it open.

“Whoever is spying on my mate had these, he dropped them as I chased him. Who is it?” I demand.

She shrugs, “I don’t know, and in case you forgot, you kicked me out.” She says, her voice calm and full of shit. I’m not buying it. These keys belong to her. She knows better than to keep them recklessly. They open every room in this house. “I don’t live here anymore, I’m only here for the rest of my staff, which should be gone by Saturday morning.” She says.

I stare between her and Seraphine. Seraphine hasn’t once, and there’s a familiar pattern to her demeanour. She’s not as calm as Audrey, and while she always has her guard up around me, this is different. She keeps looking at Audrey’s mouth every time she speaks.

“Audrey,” I step forward. “I command you to tell me who had your keys.”

Her body jerks and she blinks, eyes wide now that she is under my command. I do not command my people. I listen for their confessions, but she is forcing my hand. “I asked you a question. Who had your keys?” I demand.
