"Alpha Voren." The middle-aged man bowed respectfully, his posture radiating deference. "Alpha Vladimir informed me about your arrival. I was supposed to stock your private kitchen before your arrival, but I was caught up with making special dishes for our Luna." He gestured toward the massive trolley behind him. "Can I come in?"
Voren tore his eyes from the middle-aged man before it landed on the huge trolley stacked with covered dishes and groceries. He stepped aside, allowing the man to wheel it into his room.
The chef bowed slightly at the sight of Seraphine, his eyes crinkling with warmth. "Luna Sera, I’m Chef Jax, assigned to you and Alpha Voren."
Seraphine’s stomach rumbled at the aroma wafting through the covered dishes, a rich blend of herbs and spices that made her mouth water. "Right on time." She laughed softly. "I’m starving."
Chef Jax smiled, his lined face brightening, and quickly made his way to the dining table. He arranged the dishes with practiced precision, soups, roasted meats, fresh vegetables, and delicate pastries before moving to the kitchen and organizing the groceries he had brought.
The Alpha’s suite at the pack house had everything: a luxurious living room with plush seating, an average-sized but fully equipped kitchen, an office with state-of-the-art technology, an ultra-modern bathroom that looked like something from a spa magazine, a private gym with top-of-the-line equipment, and a massive luxurious bedroom with a bed that could easily fit four people.
There was no need to step out if one did not want to. Everything was right there, at their fingertips.
By the time Chef Jax stepped out, he was delighted to see that Seraphine was already enjoying the meal Vladimir had instructed him to make. She ate with evident pleasure, her expression softening with each bite. It warmed his heart greatly.
"Luna, if you want anything, just press the bell in the middle of the dining table." He pointed to the small silver button. "And I’ll be at your service."
Voren responded on Seraphine’s behalf because her mouth was full, his voice carrying a note of gratitude. "Thank you, Chef Jax. Her breakfast should be ready by 8." He paused, his expression turning thoughtful. "And remember to factor her nausea when prepping the meal. She’s been struggling with it."
Chef Jax nodded solemnly before excusing the couple, his footsteps silent as he slipped out of the suite.
Seraphine was so joyful, her eyes bright with happiness. "This is so good, V." She spoke through mouthfuls, not caring about etiquette. "I love it. I love everything about this place."
Voren was happy as he dug into his own meal, watching her with affectionate eyes. When they were done, he insisted that they shower together, his voice carrying a note of playful command.
But as soon as she stepped into the massive bathroom, she froze, her breath catching in her throat.
"V, this is over the top luxury." Her voice was barely a whisper. "One of a kind."
Voren removed his shirt slowly, his muscles rippling, before approaching her. He pressed his lips close to her ear, his warm breath sending shivers down her spine.
"I should thank you for breaking my heart." His voice was soft, vulnerable. "I wouldn’t have channeled my energy into all this. And trust me, I never delighted in any of it because you weren’t here." His eyes searched hers, raw with emotion. "Every stone, every design, every detail, felt hollow without you."
Sorrow filled Seraphine’s heart at his words, the weight of his loneliness pressing down on her. But it was gone in a blink, replaced by fierce determination. "I’m here now, V."
