Athaliah’s confident words echoed across the massive gym, and within seconds every single conversation slammed to a stop.
Forks froze halfway to mouths, glasses hung suspended in the air, and even the music seemed to drop in volume as hundreds of eyes snapped toward Voren and Seraphine. The silence that followed was so heavy it almost felt suffocating.
Athaliah, though, looked completely unbothered. She stood there with her chin high and that same confident smile on her face, like she’d just made a casual comment about the weather.
Before anyone could react, a familiar voice exploded inside her head through the mind link. ’What are you doing? I have eyes on Sera.’
Prince Jasper’s tone was sharp with frustration. He’d been trying to find the perfect moment to talk to Seraphine all evening, but the gym had only gotten more crowded as the night went on.
The thick smells of grilled food, expensive liquor, and perfume hung in the air while guests kept drifting from group to group.
Finding her alone had become nearly impossible, and the raging snowstorm outside made any private conversation outside the gym a no-go.
Now his own sister was openly pushing the woman he secretly wanted together with the man their father had already picked as her future husband. Had she completely lost her mind?
Athaliah didn’t look guilty at all. A playful smile tugged at her lips as she shot back through the link, ’Go find someone else, Jasp. I’m rooting for those two.’
Jasper nearly choked. ’What about you?’ His frustration came through loud and clear, he couldn’t understand what the hell she was thinking.
Athaliah’s smile slowly faded. Her reply came much calmer this time. ’I’ve already talked things through with Alpha Voren. We’re not a match. Marrying him would only make me miserable because he doesn’t see me that way.’ She drew in a slow breath. ’And stay away from Sera. Dad would never allow it.’
Jasper’s jaw tightened hard. Of course, he knew why. The Alpha Code prevented Alphas from dating or marrying each other’s exes, and breaking it carried serious consequences.
Normally nobody dared challenge it. But love made people reckless. If Seraphine accepted him, he would gladly face whatever punishment came his way. Nothing else mattered. His answer came back almost instantly. ’Luna Sera is the woman I want. Nothing will change my mind.’
Athaliah slowly closed her eyes as a quiet sadness settled deep inside her. If her suspicions were right and Voren and Seraphine really shared the bond she thought they did, then Jasper wasn’t chasing love.
He was walking straight into heartbreak. ’Don’t say I didn’t warn you,’ she answered softly.
Not far away, hidden among the crowd, Jasmine watched everything unfold with a faint smile on her lips. Athaliah had already missed her shot.
Seraphine wasn’t just close to Voren. She was already his wife. That secret alone gave Jasmine an oddly satisfied feeling. But then her smile slowly faded as her gaze drifted toward Corvine.
He wasn’t looking at Seraphine anymore. His full attention had moved to Athaliah, and the warm admiration shining in his eyes cut through Jasmine’s heart like a knife.
Athaliah nodded once, staying completely composed. "You’re right. This is your pack." She slowly looked around at the hundreds of guests filling the gym.
"But none of us came here for free. We paid to attend this festival. We paid for the rooms, the food, and every breath we’re taking inside this place." Her eyes returned to Ravyn. "So the least you can do... is treat your guests with respect."
Several guests quietly exchanged glances, clearly agreeing with her. Seraphine stood nearby, unable to hide the smile on her face. Corvine looked just as pleased.
Neither of them had expected Athaliah to defend them so openly and fiercely. Even Kael was struggling to keep his amusement in check.
Ravyn noticed every single expression, and his patience finally snapped. Without taking his eyes off Athaliah, he raised one hand toward Damon. "Damon."
His tone left zero room for argument. "Refund the princess’s payment." The entire gym fell silent again. Then Ravyn delivered the final blow. "She’s leaving."
A satisfied smile immediately spread across Daisy’s face. Finally, someone had put Athaliah in her place. She couldn’t have been happier.
But only for a moment, because what happened next was something no one in the gym saw coming.
