Chapter 658 A Son’s Secret
Jasper started to speak, but Tatiana cut in, I’ll dig into Liam’s background. See if he knows anything about what happened.”
Faye looked up at her, eyes slightly red, “You believe me?”
“Can’t afford to pass up any chance.”
Faye managed a small smile, “Thank you.”
She knew full well how crazy that last lead sounded-which was exactly why she’d kept it under wraps.
She wasn’t delusional. She knew what she’d seen. But nobody else believed her.
Jasper frowned. This meant Tatiana would have to keep up that ‘ambiguous relationship’ with Liam
His mood hit an all-time low, and his hatred for the Langstrom family burned even hotter.
Liam invited Tatiana to a chamber of commerce gala.
This was a semi-public acknowledgment of her status.
Tatiana accepted without hesitation.
She still needed to keep Liam close, so she played along-but she still hadn’t formally agreed to be his girlfriend.
Men, though? They just assumed anyway.
When Tatiana next saw Liam, she could tell something was off.
His eyes weren’t as clear anymore.
Like they’d gone in two directions at once.
Put simply-he’d cheated, and he was feeling guilty about it.
The proof? He was being extra nice to her-almost overly attentive.
“Tatiana, this is for you.”
He handed her a gift bag.
“Thanks”
When men feel guilty, they suddenly start buying gifts.
She pretended not to notice and accepted it with a smile,
They headed to the gala together.
Banquets are always boring and fake.
Finished
After smiling through small talk with a few people, she excused herself-said she was tired–and slipped off to the lounge area.
Liam still had important people to chat with, so he didn’t follow. He just told her not to wander off. His tone was so warm, it was practically announcing to everyone that she was his woman.
Even though she’d never actually said yes.
Men always assume.
In the softly lit lounge, Tatiana lounged on a velvet couch, idly twisting a champagne glass between her fingers, catching little glints of light.
Sherry shot to her feet, lips trembling, “Yau-you’re lying!”
“Whether I’m lying or not, you know the truth. Katiana picked up her clutch, her gaze ice-cold. “And one more piece of advice-if you’re going to use a baby to trap a man, at least make sure you can actually have one. And find a man who can give you one.”
She turned to leave, then paused, glancing back at Sherry’s ashen face.
“Oh, and one more thing.” Tatiana smiled faintly, “He chased me.”
Then she walked off gracefully, leaving Sherry frozen in place, utterly stunned.
A man like Liam-initiating?
Even back then, Sherry had been the one to pursue him.
She’d always assumed he was the type-too proud, too aloof to ever chase anyone.
Turns out, it just depended on the woman.
Clutching her last shred of hope, Sherry used the baby’s prenatal checkup as an excuse to call Liam out.
When they met, Liam asked first, “Something wrong with the checkup?”
Sherry shook her head and sat on the couch, not saying a word.
Liam figured she might not have an appetite and pulled out the supplements he’d brought.
“Take these daily-they’re good for you. And for future checkups, use this hospital. I’ve already set you up with a doctor.”
