Against Cruelty, She Grew Strong (by Anastasia Glover) novel Chapter 642

Tammy’s spirits lifted again.

He figured out the real reason Tammy was so fixated on learning to cook.

Complex emotions swirled deep in his eyes.

Tatiana cleared her entire morning schedule to stay on a video call with Tammy.

She busied herself at her own kitchen counter while Tammy mirrored her movements step by step.

They cooked in perfect sync.

This time, Tammy dared not add random extra ingredients. She trusted Tatiana completely on instinct, following every instruction to the letter without any reckless improvisation.

When she finally set down a plate of simple tomato scrambled eggs, tears nearly welled up in her eyes from relief.

“I did it!”

“You sure did. Taste your own cooking.”

Tammy took a huge eager bite.

The flavor was mediocre, far too salty from excess salt, but none of that mattered. She hadn’t blown up the kitchen, and she’d successfully made a dish!

After a whole morning of guided practice, Tammy mastered three simple recipes: basic mac and cheese, garden vegetable salad, and butter pan–fried potatoes.

“Is he worth all this?”

Tammy paid him no mind, still rearranging the food on the plate to make it look more appetizing.

Her dismissive attitude pushed Norman, already teetering on the edge of rage, over the line.

He strode over in two quick steps, clamping a firm grip around Tammy’s wrist, “Answer me! Is he really worth everything you’re putting yourself through?”

Tammy’s features turned cold, “Let go of me.”

Norman burned with rage, but beneath it lay self–loathing and a sharp stabbing pain in his chest, “Tammy, even in that shabby little rental, I never made you cook a single meal. You didn’t know how, so I did it. And now you’re willingly stepping into the kitchen for another man?”
