Chapter 18 

I was so lost in the video that Leo’s voice barely registered at first. 

“Beth- Beth-Elizabeth!” 

His third, louder call jolted me out of my thoughts. 

“We’re here,” he said as the car came to a stop. 

I quickly powered off my tablet and stepped out of the car, walking briskly ahead of him. 

Once inside, I rushed to the bathroom, desperate to strip away the layers of makeup and escape the constricting grip of my formal clothes. 

The moment I slipped into my pajamas, a wave of relief washed over me–I finally felt like myself again. 

I sat down in front of the old piano, which I hadn’t used for a long time, and wiped the dust off the top of it, longing to remember what it felt like back then, but then I noticed that Leo was already sitting on the edge of the bed in his pyjamas. 

“You’re staying here tonight?” I asked, trying to mask my surprised. 

Leo raised an eyebrow at me. 

“Elizabeth,“he said, “I thought I was still your Alpha.”
