After All the Hurt, She Chose Herself novel Chapter 345

When Aldous Evernight saw the message from Gideon, his expression shifted slightly.

He wanted Raphael and Aria’s relationship to improve, but if Aria really got together with Raphael…

He found that a little hard to accept.

Even though Aria had practically saved their entire family, when it came to a matter of ethics…

Aldous Evernight sighed.

“Dad, Lilith’s funeral is tomorrow. She and Gideon were close, but in his current state, I’m afraid he won’t be able to attend,” Eveline said, sitting down in the living room and sighing softly.

“Does that mean I have to go tomorrow?”

Raphael had only just started to recover and had no real connection to Lilith. The Evernight family was small, and among those suitable to attend, only Eveline was left.

Aldous Evernight was silent for a moment before nodding.

No matter how unpleasant things had become, they still had to maintain appearances.

Moreover, the Rowan family had announced early on that Gideon would be at the funeral. If no one from their family showed up, it would surely give people something to gossip about.

Eveline stood up and instructed the servants to prepare what was needed.

After returning with Raphael, Aria had planned to drive to her rental to pick up the roomful of books she had there.

Then she needed to talk to the landlord about ending her lease.

But when Raphael saw that she wasn’t planning on going upstairs with him, he asked what she was doing and offered to go with her.

Aria couldn’t refuse.

“Is this the fruit of all your years of research?” Raphael asked, casually picking up a book and flipping it open. The pages were filled with dense notes on usage and dosage.

It was a testament to the owner’s diligence.

Aria was about to nod, but then she remembered that the genetic disease research she had proposed was under Dawn’s name; she was merely acting as an agent.

She quickly shook her head. “No, no, Dawn entrusted me with these for safekeeping.”

Raphael could easily tell it was Aria’s handwriting.

“I’ll get the rest. You take a break.” Raphael handed his handkerchief to Aria. “Wipe your sweat.”

“No, no, I couldn’t let you move so many books by yourself.”

“Don’t be polite with me. I have my reasons for being nice to you, remember? I need you to motivate Dawn to crack the code of the genetic disease.”

“I have to get on your good side so you’ll put in a good word for me with Dawn.”

After saying this, Raphael even gave Aria a wink.

Aria couldn’t help but smile.

“Alright then. I’ll be sure to push Dawn, and I’ll definitely tell her lots of good things about you.”

Though she said that, after a short rest, Aria joined Raphael in carrying the last batch of books downstairs.

“If there’s a next time, I’ll just hire movers. Then it won’t be so exhausting.”

Raphael sat in the driver’s seat. “But then how would I get on your good side? Besides, movers wouldn’t know the value of these books. What if they got damaged during transport?”
