A Widow's Poison, A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 1302

"Is my father back?"

"Yes!"

Yardley fell silent.

Hearing the gravity in David's voice over the phone, it was obvious his father was furious.

And why wouldn't he be?

Elmer would never tolerate someone like Susanna polluting his world. But now...!

"Understood," Yardley said sharply.

He hung up, took one last vicious drag of his cigarette, and stepped out of the car, striding back toward Starla.

Jane spotted him first and nudged Starla.

Starla turned to face him.

Their eyes met, sparking a freezing hostility in the air!

"I accept your terms," Yardley stated.

Starla's brow twitched.

Did Susanna really have that much of a hold on him?

She knew perfectly well how outrageous her demands were and hadn't expected him to agree.

In his world, women were rarely worth such a sacrifice.

But now, he had said yes!

For Susanna!

"Are you serious?" she asked.

"I'll have Garret handle the paperwork. You know what you have to guarantee in return, right?"

"I know," Starla replied easily.

She was supposed to guarantee Fairfax's safety—specifically, protecting him from Elmer's wrath.

Since Fairfax wasn't actually in her father's custody anyway, it made no difference to her.

"Good," Yardley ground out through gritted teeth.

He turned on his heel to leave.

"Yardley," Jane called out smoothly. "Don't forget my condition."

His back stiffened!

The aura around him turned downright glacial.
